Ep. 308 – Dr. Farzad Mostashari, National Coordinator for Health IT

farzadTOPIC:  We have the extreme pleasure this week of talking with Dr. Farzad Mostashari!  Dr. Mostashari is in charge of the ONC and behind an incredible change in the way hospitals and health care providers engage with patients, share and use data.

Not only that, but we are lucky enough to have Dave back with us from his jaunt to Ireland! Jay Garmon also joins in to not only answer last week’s question but hit us up with this doozy:

What was the very first device on which Java was implemented, and what was that device called?

With guests and regulars like we had today it’s no surprise that our coolsites of the week bit got a little squished (as in “completely out of existence”) but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some sites you should check out:

  • @farzad_onc – Dr. Mostashari’s twitter handle; follow him for up-to-the-second breaking news and his unique insights into healthcare today!
  • HealthIT.gov – Whether you’re a provider, a patient, or “other” you’ll find tons of great info here about what is happening in healthcare and health data technology today!

We end with the admittedly cheesy choice of “Dear Doctor” by the Rolling Stones!
