TOPIC: It’s the 75th anniversary of the founding of Round Lake Beach, Illinois and WRLR (and by extension the TechTalk show) is there! On the corner of the fair, honking horns and all … plus no Internet means we deliver a decidedly different show for you, filled with short blips of news and commentary and a solid 1/2 dozen or so tunes handpicked by yours truly.
Listen at your own risk; this one was fun to cut but is definitely NOT your typical TechTalk. Congrats to Round Lake Beach, and ENJOY! :)
TOPIC: Mike and Dave get together for the final show of 2010 to do our usual shtick of news, views, interviews and reviews! We have the great pleasure of Karen Sohl of Cisco Consumer Products joining us to discuss the new router tech, how it’ll help you get all your media connected at home, and why you should think about upgrading that reliable (but older) router now! We talk specifically about the new Linksys E2000, E3000 and Cisco Valet Plus routers, so if you’re interested in any of these you’ll definitely want to tune in!
In addition to that – as if it weren’t enough – we get Jay Garmon onto ask the burning question(s) of the week:
Where were the crowd noises being used for the new movie Tron Legacy sourced?
Believe it or not, we even manage to find time for one great coolsites of the week, courtesy of Lou from Australia:
- Hop Shop & Go – Provides International shoppers a legit US address so that you can patronize those online merchants that won’t ship out of the country!
And of course no show would be complete without the podcast only song of the week – This week we heat things up with Passport Feat. Sciryl by Turnstylz!
The press release from Myine Electronics states “Myine’s Ira Wireless Internet Radio is designed to harness the universe of radio broadcasts available on the Internet and to allow user enjoyment anywhere a wireless internet connection, a speaker system and power sources are available.” And that pretty well sums it up – and it does a great job at it too!
The general point of the unit is to not only give you access to the world of internet streaming radio and podcasts, but to do it easily, quickly, and without having to know a whole lot about what’s going on with your network or connections. “There is a lack of good products available for people who are not tech savvy or just busy,” said Jake Sigal, Principal and Founder of Myine Electronics. “Ira doesn’t have any unnecessary bells and whistles, and sets up automatically right out of the box without a computer. We believe that with potentially confusing electronics, less is more.”
